Web Hosting Jargon – Name Server

Posted by John on December 13th, 2009 — Posted in Servers

The name server would act as the link between the user’s computer and the remote destination. Simply put, it directs the website to the destination the user needs to go. When setting up a website, you are required to register the name server into the directory. The domain registrar website will do this for you. You would also be given the option to configure four or more name servers. It can take anywhere from 0 – 24 hours after you update the name server. Computer will know where to go once everything is online. Your web host will be able to help you in case of any further problems.
